When I first got to college my mother told me that I had to choose between alcohol and fries… Easy choice right? Some people may be a little on the fence when deciding but not me. After experiencing Kimchi Fries at Chi’Lantro in Austin, Tx, my decision was final.
Chi’Lantro is a Korean BBQ restaurant that has proudly been serving the residents of Austin for over eight years. What started as a food truck has now been transformed into a small chain restaurant with its headquarters in the best city in Texas. The restaurant boasts of having the original Kimchi Fries and amazing Korean inspired BBQ.

Grabbing a great meal with a fair price is something Austinites love. With mainly everything on the menu being under 12 dollars this dining experience is a bargain. The only thing I would forewarn to anyone that wants to try Chi’Lantro is that every location is cashless.
Similar to chipotle you get to customize your meal and select different toppings to go with it. My go-to item on the menu is their tacos which gives you the option of either flour or corn tortillas, but, you also give you the option of either starting out with a salad, rice bowl, tacos, burrito, noodle bowl or kimchi fries. Then you get to choose your protein to add on my personal favorite being the spicy pork. After choosing your bases you then go own to pick out your greens, and sauces. Chi’ Lantro also offers Korean fried chicken wings and a kids menu for people like me who are only in college.

My personal order at Chi’Lantro since you all have probably just been dying to know is the tacos on flour with spicy pork, lettuce, onions, avocado, and cheese topped off with their magic sauce makes all my wildest dreams come true. And did I forget to add that I also always order their kimchi fires?
Loading those bad boys up with again some spicy pork and magic sauce if I didn’t have enough already. Then I like to water that down with some of they’re fresh juice or a unique blend of tea depending on what they have set out for the day.
All in all, everything I’ve ever put in my mouth at Chi’Lantro has never disappointed. Definitely not the best place to bring a date if you plan on going full savage mode since it can get a little messy but other then that I give it a five out of five stars. If you’re looking to add a twist to your BBQ needs I personally recommend stopping by Chi’lantro.
